Bike Hire

Air New Zealand have changed the rules for carrying bikes and it is now typically $95 each way to take a bike - so hiring makes more sense than ever.

Bikes especially for touring

We have a large fleet of touring bikes available for hire. These can be hired on their own or with panniers for independent touring or as part of a more structured tour with accommodation and (if required) gear transport included.

Choose between conventional mountain bike or womens low bar frames.

In 2012 we expanded the fleet to include childrens bikes as there are circuits suitable for families.

The Bikes

The mountain bikes are GT Aggressor 1s with disk brakes. We also have several GT Laguna women's bikes (without the crossbar) and a few GT Tanseo hybrids.

The bikes include:

Comfortable Gel seat
Handlebar bag (much better than a backpack in a hot climate)
Helmet
pump, spare tube, basic tools
Rear Carrier
Lock

All bikes will be cleaned and serviced between hires and fitted to you.

Hire Location

Airport Lodge Motel is located 10 minutes from the airport and close to the ferry to Savaii. It's a great place to start you journey around either Island as it avoids the busy road between Apia and the Airport. It's also a good place to stay on the first and last night of your visit.

Note that the International Airport is 45 minutes from Apia on the road leading to the ferry to Savaii. If you are planning to cycle Savaii or even just circumnavigate Upolu, it is better to stay at the Airport Lodge than taxi into Apia.

We can arrange accommodation and transfers from the Airport to the Lodge for the same price as booking direct.

How may pairs of panniers required?

We provide an optional meet and greet service with a transfer from the Airport to the Airport Lodge and first nights accommodation. Prices are the same as booking direct and it is very convenient at 1am when many flights arrive. Garden Bungalow for two with Transfer is $NZ123. Ocean view Delux unit with aircon and transfers for two is NZ$178
